To ensure adequate security during the 2015 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) intends engage the services of the Nigerian Air Force, Navy, and other security and military agencies.
The information was disclosed in Jalingo, Taraba State, by Austin Okojie, INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner as he addressed Batch B corps members at NYSC orientation camp.
INEC’s decision to make arrangements with Nigerian security and military forces was dictated by the need to ensure safety of lives and property during the 2015 general elections, given the current level of insecurity in Nigeria.
“We expect Nigerians to understand that the engagement of security agents to maintain law and order is to enable us to conduct free, fair and acceptable elections,” Mr. Okojie said and urged Corps members to be patriotic in the elections.
