The Emir of Kano Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II (Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi)
has dismissed rumors making the rounds on the Internet that he was set
to marry a 17-year-old daughter of the Lamido of Adamawa.
Sanusi, a former Central Bank Governor of Nigeria debunked the
marriage rumors while answering to questions by SaharaReporters and
transmitted through one of his assistants.
Answering to a question about marriage between adult men and underage
girls, the Emir of Kano noted that he fully supports the right of
children not to get compulsorily married before reaching the
constitutionally specified age of 18 years.
He stated the stories making the rounds were only meant to know
his purposes. While not completely ruling out the option of marrying a
fourth wife, the Emir recommended people to wait to see the real age of
his wife if he decides to deal another marriage.
Rumours have arisen yesterday, January 5th, that Emir of Kano is planning to marry daughter of the Lamido of Adamawa,
