Ambode Visits Governor Fashola

The newly elected candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for Lagos State governorship election in 2015 general elections, Akinwumi Ambode, on Monday visited the incumbent Governor, Babatunde Fashola (SAN) in his office.
This is coming after the APC governorship primary that was held in Lagos last week had pitted one of the national leaders of the APC, Senator Bola Tinubu against his political godson, Fashola.
According to reports, Fashola had reportedly supported a former Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the Justice in the state, Mr. Olasupo Shasore (SAN), while Tinubu backed Ambode.
Political observers had thought that the outcome of the primary would disunite the state APC and destroy the relationship between Fashola and Tinubu.
But Monday’s visit of Ambode to Fashola and the governor’s well-publicised congratulatory message to the APC governorship candidate had put paid to this.

It was learnt that during the meeting, Ambode sought Fashola’s support for next year’s election.

It would be recalled that Governor Fashola had stated before the APC guber primary that he would support any of the candidates produced by the party primaries.

Fashola also added that being product of the Lagos State Public Service system, any of the candidates who emerged would be able to carry on the task of sustaining the rapid development going on in the state since the return of democratic governance in 1999.
Also, while speaking at the Lagos Sea Food Festival 2014 at the Bar Beach, Victoria Island, Governor Fashola said supporting the new candidate and the party would also ensure that the state would continue to enjoy the good governance and high performance attributes of the party, which had been variously demonstrated in all the states under its control.
