Vanguard report that the suspected Boko Haram terrorists attacked the village, located in Mafa local local government area of Borno State, at about 12:00 pm (1100 GMT) on Wednesday as villagers were at work.
The Insurgents who reportedly stormed the village in trucks attacked the residents, as they destroyed their houses, took along with them motorcycles, foodstuff, livestock, residents lament.
Jabir Usman, a local farmer, who said he managed to escape the attack, told reporters in Maiduguri that aside the 45 persons feared dead, some others have also died in the bushes due to excessive bleeding after sustaining bullet injuries”.
There are also reports that some are still missing.
Shettima Lawan, who is the caretaker chairman of Mafa local government area, has lamented the havoc the Boko Haram sect have caused, as he called on the Federal Government to come to act fast and put to an end to the incessant attacks and killings.
Azaya Kura is 45 kilometres east of Maiduguri, Borno state.
The incessant attacks by the dreaded Boko Haram sect in North-eastern states has led President Jonathan to seek for an extension of the emergency rule in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe.
The emergency rule had been in
place in the North-eastern states since May last year, but expired on
Monday and the presidency resolved that the emergency rule be extended
in view of the worsening security situation in the north-eastern states.
