Some 1,000 people from the European Union, mostly tourists and trekkers, were still unaccounted for in Nepal nearly a week after a powerful earthquake hit the Himalayan country, the head of the EU delegation said on Friday.
Most of the Europeans were traveling in the Langtang mountain range, north of the capital of Kathmandu, and the Lukla area on a popular trekking route to Mount Qomolangma base camp, Ambassador Rensje Teerink told reporters.
