heavyweights emerging in various contests.

1. Chief Barnabas Gemade: Gemade who is a former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ,defected to the APC few hours after leaving the PDP due to allegations that he was schemed out of the race to the get the PDP ticket by his state governor, Mr. Gabriel Suswam. Gemade (APC) and Suswam (PDP) will now go head-to-head in the Benue North East senatorial election come 2015.
2. Hon. Dino Melaye: Controversial former house of representatives member, Hon. Dino Melaye, won the ticket of the APC to contest the Kogi West Senatorial District in the 2015 general election. Melaye scored 2,077 of the votes to defeat his rival, Bidemi Adeyemi, who received 326 votes. He will now battle it out with incumbent senator, Senator Smart Adeyemi of the PDP.
3. Chief Francis Inegbeneki: Popular businessman
Chief Inegbeneki emerged the winner of the APC primary election for
Edo Central senatorial district. Inegbeneki polled 852 votes to defeat
three other aspirants. He will now face Mr. Cliffors Ordia of the PDP,
who is the Chairman of the Benue River Basin, in the general elections.

5. Senator Ajayi Borrofice: The incumbent
Senator representing Ondo State Senatorial District at the National
Assembly, Senator Ajayi Boroffice also got a returning ticket under the
platform of the main opposition force of the country.
6. Senator Chris Ngige: Senator Ngige was unanimously selected by APC members in his zone to re-contest the seat in 2015. Ngige, representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, was the sole contestant in the primary election. He polled 1,832 votes out of 1,834 votes.
7. Senator Bukola Saraki: Saraki emerged as the
winner of Kwara Central Senatorial ticket under APC to contest the seat
for a second time. The former governor of the state, who is currently
representing Kwara Central at the National Assembly, won the ticket with
1,540 votes in the primary election held in Ilorin on November 8,
2014. Saraki will contest the main election with his former security
adviser, Alhaji Yinka Aluko, who won the PDP ticket.
8. Alhaji Sha’aba Lafiagi: Also a former governor of Kwara State, Lafiagi was elected to pick the APC for the North Senatorial Zone election. Like Ngige in Anambra, he was the sole aspirant, he polled 1, 555 votes.
9.Senator George Akume: Senate Minority Leader, Akume also didn’t face any resistance as he was elected as the flag bearer of the APC for the Benue Northwest Senatorial Zone. Akume is also a former governor of the state.
10. Iheanacho Obioma: A former member of the House of Representatives, Iheanacho Obioma, won the Abia Central Senatorial District ticket to run for the Senate in 2015 under the APC. Obioma will now slug it out in the general elections with incumbent Governor Theodore Orji.
11. Hon. Samson Osagie: Minority Leader in the House of Representatives, Samson Osagie, defeated the chief of staff to Edo state governor, Chief Patrick Obahiagbon to emerge the winner of the APC Edo North senatorial election. He polled 1,120 votes as against Obahiagbon’s 894 votes.
12. Fatai Buhari: The current Commissioner for Local Government in Oyo state won the Oyo North Senatorial district ticket for the APC. Buhari polled 2,843 votes to beat his closest rival in the election.
13. Soji Akanbi: A former governorship aspirant in Oyo state, Akanbi clinched the APC ticket for Oyo South Senatorial district. Akanbi scored 2,189 votes to beat his closest opponent, Femi Olaore, who polled 330 votes in the primary election.
14. Senator Olubunmi Adetunmbi: Adetunmbi won the ticket to seek re-election under the APC to the National Assembly for the Ekiti North Senatorial District.
15. Ambassador Gbenga Olofin: In the Ekiti Central Senatorial District, Olofin clinched the ticket to represent the party to replace outgoing popular journalist, Senator Babafemi Ojudu who is not seeking re-election.
16. Dr. Rafiu Ibrahim: Ibrahim, who is a member of the House of Representatives representing Offa/Oyun/Ifelodun Federal Constituency, won theAPC Kwara South Senatorial ticket. Ibrahim was the sole candidate in the election, polling 2,463 votes.
17. Ibrahim Abdullahi Danbaba Damboa: Damboa won the APC ticket for Sokoto West Senatorial district. He was the sole candidate in the election.
18. Ibrahim Gobir: Gobir won the APC ticket for Sokoto East Senatorial district. He was also the sole candidate in the election.

Meanwhile, the APC has stated that the secret ballot system of voting has been chosen to be used to elect the party’s presidential flag bearer in its forthcoming presidential primaries.
