Emir of Kano, Muhammed Sanusi II today paid a visit to the scene of the deadly bomb blast which left over 120 people dead.
He said that the nation’s Muslim population will not be intimidated into abandoning Islam following coordinated bomb and gun attacks on the city’s central mosque that left at least 120 people dead.
He said: “We will never be intimidated into abandoning our religion, which is the intention of the attackers,”
Emir paid a visit to the affected mosque and spent 20 minutes to see the scene of the sad event.
He spoke in Hausa and denied claims that the attack was due to his comments last week that people pick arms against the insurgents.
He said: “From all indications, they (attackers) have been planning this for at least two months”.
Bloodstains were also noticeable at the entrance and on the walls of the mosque. The bomb blasts had left gaping holes in the ceiling of the sprawling religious edifice.
“I have directed that the mosque be washed and cleaned and prayers should continue here,” Sanusi said
Last week in the Mosque, The Emir had asked the populace to pick up arms against Boko Haram Insurgents.
