Suicide Bomber in Yobe

A suicide bomber on Sunday, February 22, blew up herself and five others when the explosive devices strapped to her body detonated at the GSM market in Nigeria’s northeastern city of Potiskum, Yobe state, witnesses said.
Reportedly, the suicide bomber was a young girl from 7 to 10 years old.
According to the Eagle Online, the female suicide bomber struck at about 1:20pm when the market was in full swing.

The AFP reports, according to a local vigilante leader, nineteen others who sustained various degrees of injury were taken to hospital after the blast.
“So far, five people were killed with the girl while 19 others have been taken to hospital for injuries,”Buba Lawan said.
Another witness said that the lady, who was said to be about eight years old, refused to be checked at the gate to the market. After an argument with the market security guards, she detonated the explosive hidden within her.
A resident, Mohammed Abbas, said he saw traders and other good Samaritans conveying the injured and corpses to hospital.
“We counted five bodies and over 30 injured. I heard a loud bang from my house. When we came out, we saw people rescuing and evacuating dead bodies to the hospital,” he said.
Police Public Relations Officer, Yobe command ASP, Toyin Gbadegesin, said: “I can confirm to you that there is a blast at the Kasuwan Jagwal market (GSM market) in Potiskum where it happened last month but how it happened and the casualty figure has not been known.”
Several days ago, another suicide bomber has attacked a restaurant along Damaturu road of Potiskum town, Yobe State, north east Nigeria and killed 3 people. Over a week ago, no fewer than 16 people have been killed in an explosion that rocked a motor park, Bayan Tasha, located near a market in Damaturu, the capital of Yobe state.
Last month, the GSM market was attacked by a female suicide bomber where seven people lost their lives.
