Fear Grips PDP Guber Aspirants Ahead Monday's Primaries

Members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seeking governorship positions have reportedly been griped with anxiety due to overt politicking.
Daily Independent reports that the aspirants in their respective states will step on the stage on Monday for the party’s governorship primary that is already generating apprehensions across the country.
The fears allegedly followed the first pruning done during the screening of aspirants held two weeks ago, those cleared to contest under the party now go into the first of major events that could make or mar their dreams.
The run up to the primaries is reverberating more in states like Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Benue and Lagos. In Akwa Ibom, it was gathered that the aspirants and their supporters are kicking against the alleged existence of three separate lists of delegates for the exercise.
A source within the state chapter of PDP revealed at the weekend that the development is already creating confusion in the party. It said the situation is generating serious concerns among party members and governorship aspirants that the primary may be threatened.
The source further disclosed that Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio, is being accused of masterminding the existence of the said multiple delegates list to create confusion during the primary to favour an alleged candidate of his choice in the person of the former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Emmanuel Udom, known as ‘Zenith’.
