It’s
always lovely to see women appreciated and honoured for the positive
contributions they make in their individual specializations.
Glamour
Magazine certainly understand this and each year they honour a number
of women with the ‘Woman of the Year’ award – an award that honors
celebrities, politicians, local leaders and athletes for their powerful
roles in influencing women everywhere.
Laverne Cox
The 24th annual Women of the Year awards held at Carnegie Hall in New York City today last night and several women were honoured such as actresses Lupita Nyong’o, Mindy Kaling and Laverne Cox, fashion designer Sarah Burton, U.N. Ambassador Samantha Power and Chelsea Clinton.
Other women of the night include TV host Robin Roberts, Supermodel Natalia Vodianova and oceanographer Sylvia Earle.
Several other notable women were in attendance – Shonda Rhimes, Whoopi Goldberg, Jodie Foster, Hilary Clinton, Mira Nair, Keri Russell and more.
