Boko Haram Shoot Colonel Popoola

Boko Haram insurgents have reportedly shot the acting commander of 23rd Brigade in Yola, Adamawa State.
According to Sahara Reporters, Colonel Popoola was injured in the shoulder during the Monday clash for control over Hong and Gombi towns.
A military source from Abuja disclosed this information adding that Popoola was evacuated from the scene and rushed to UCH Ibadan for treatment.

The colonel was responsible for a crop of soldiers drafted from Jos after the capture of the Adamawa towns by the militants.
After the clash, 4 commanders were arrested for deserting their troops in the battle, which resulted in Popoola’s injury.
The military source also said that at least 300 terrorists died in the battle.
Meanwhile earlier today the Nigerian Defence Headquarters tweeted that the military managed to retake Gombi, Pelia and Hong seized last week by the terrorists.
Moreover, the message read that many terrorists were killed and weaponry was recovered.
Boko Haram militants continue raiding the towns of Nigeria’s North-East in an attempt to seize new territories.
Meanwhile controversial reactions emerged yesterday in the Senate regarding Goodluck Jonathan’s request to extend the state of emergency in Yobe, Adamawa and Borno states for the third time.
Critics say that despite the heavy military presence, resident feel unprotected.
